The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Trellis Company co-convened the Financial Wellness Learning Collaborative to build off of the Financial Wellness Advisory Committee's work in Texas. This session will provide an overview of the work of the Collaborative, findings within the report, and next steps for financial wellness in the state.

In the Pandemic's Wake: 

The Mental Health and Financial Effects on Students

The pandemic sent shocking and unexpected jolts through society. COVID-19 not only generated a palpable fear regarding our health and well-being, but it also caused overwhelming financial challenges. It threatened students physically and emotionally, while creating an economic freefall the American job market had not seen since The Great Depression. This session will explore the emotional toll the pandemic’s financial freefall has had on the mental health and financial situations of students.

Transitioning to the Virtual Environment

This session will discuss several methods and tools used by Texas A&M University's Money Education Center and the University of North Texas' Student Money Management Center to transition their financial education services to the new virtual environment demanded by the social distancing restrictions put in place by COVID this past year.
