    On May 10, 2017, the U.S. Treasury’s 10-year Treasury note auction resulted in an increase in interest rates for federal student loans disbursed on or after July 1, 2017. The interest rates will be fixed for the life of the loan.

    Several TACFEP members financial literacy/wellness programs were recognized in LendEDU’s national study on the Top 50 College Financial Literacy Programs. Financial literacy amongst college students is as important as ever, and our members and Texas continues to be recognized leader in the field of collegiate financial literacy education through all our efforts and contributions.

    The rankings were compiled for the Top 50 College Financial Literacy Programs by using a unique scoring system based on three parameters. The three parameters and their assigned weight were as follows: (1) Number of Workshops and Resources Available -- 50%; (2) Access to One-On-One Financial Consultation -- 30%; (3) Incentivizing Programs Available -- 20%.

    Texas A&M University celebrated the grand opening of it's Money Education Center on October. Having opened in August, the Money Education plans to serve Texas A&M students, through workshops, one-on-one financial coaching and with financial resources.
